Therapy for Students

We specialize in working with young adults with anxiety, feeling overwhelmed or wanting to learn skills to regulate and manage intense feelings.  Why?  Because so many of us feel overextended by what we feel inside of us and what is going on around us.

Or with so much information out there, maybe you’re feeling the constant drumbeat of anxiety over the future—for yourself and for the world, which could be causing you trouble with sleep, issues concentrating or decision making, or even headaches and stomach aches

Anxiety and Stress Management

We specialize in working with young adults with generalized and social anxiety who might be feeling overwhelmed or wanting to learn skills to regulate and manage intense feelings. We understand that so many of us feel overextended by what we feel inside of us and what is going on around us.

And with so much information out there, maybe you’re feeling the constant drumbeat of anxiety over the future—for yourself and for the world, which could be causing you trouble with sleep, issues concentrating or decision making, or even headaches and stomach aches. We want you to be your healthiest and happiest self, and we’ll work through coping strategies so that you can feel calmer, more regulated, and more resilient.

College Adjustments

Starting college is a significant transition for most people - whether you are going to a school 50 miles or 500 miles away from home.  You are navigating the new chapter in a new setting, meeting new peers, making academic and extracurricular choices and managing your own time and responsibilities.  Maybe you are also trying to find a new therapist near your office.  These changes, naturally, bring up self doubt, anxiety and stress and questions about whether or not you doing “well”.  We deeply appreciate that the college transition is not just an academic transition but a personal and psychological and relationship change.  We are here to support you to be curious about your preferences, in peer groups or academic choices, your actions and to make choices that will help you to create a new  chapter that will set you up to thrive.  We will also help you to learn skills (really practical ones too) that will help you to minimize feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or anxious.  With you as the  lead, we will help you to consider many choices in college and how you can create your own path of thriving.

Relationships

For many of us, family may have been the  primary source of support in high school, quickly followed by close friendships with peers. When leaving home, It’s natural to feel isolated and lonely being separated from your old friends and family. What’s more, it might be hard navigating a new environment filled with thousands of people you don’t know, making it difficult to make new connections. Maybe you know many people, but you want deeper connections. Even with your family and friends, you might be having trouble sharing everything you feel.
